Yes. When attaching the lining to the flap(and only glueing along the edges, not fully down) You need to stretch or pull the corners of the lining out just a little and then press it down the the exterior. this creates a slight tension that will make the ends of the flap slightly bend in creating a nice shape.

Thanks David, very useful info. I'm also thinking about one, due space constraints (flat). Indeed there are some youtube videos of how this mini skiver machine is working, but I neeed a feedback of somebody which use it, as I was/am, concerned about the blades sharpening and replacement. I'm sharpening, on strop, my skiving knives for manual skiving, almost after each cut, so I was bit skeptical of this machine. But, yes, one/two regular blades for a bag, is not so bad. Just unscrewing/ screwing the 4 screws to replace the blade, might create some issue. I've seen they are offering a high grade blade, which may be take out and sharpen on a leather strop. Do you have one? thank you

That all depends on the size holes ou are punching and the thickness of your leather, but in general I use size 3.0 punch with Meise size 40 or 50 thread

Thank you for the list. You mentioned that vergez blanchard's skiving knives are the best. I had a look at them and they have knives with a strait edge/end and knives with a diagonal edge/end. Or are the diagonal ending knives for left handed people; I am left handed. They have long blades and shorter ones; which one is good for what? big hands? small hands?

Hi Danielle, I face the same problem because of my 4 month old. He's used to the skiving machine but he doesn't like my punching noises .. I usually put some books under my board. Paper helps with the noice. Also I've seen around hammers filled with sand which are supposed to make less noise (Crimson Hides sell one, but you can find them on Amazon too). A friend that uses one tells me that it helps a little.

Hi Connie! Pretty much all we use for sharpening at the atelier is a good leather strop and some polishing compound on it. Its mainly just awls and hand skivers we polish when needed. For a cutting knife I use disposable beads so if its getting dull i just snap it off to get the next sharp edge. p

Hi Ewa, Well if the leather is really soft and stretchy you may encounter problems with stitching and edge finishing because it will be hard to get an even tension when stitching and it will stretch when creasing and edge polishing. Each case is a little different but in general if I have this situation i will back the leather with a really thin liner like micron which will not change the hand or feel of the leather but will keep it from stretching. p
