Hey! For the first layers I am using 180 :) I think it is as well connected to the type of the leather I am using. Tried to use primer from uniters first and it helps a lot:)

Hi N. A difference between 1.2 and 1.3 is nothing....usually in the same skin you have such slight variations. I've never heard of splitting for hamonization....🤔

ok...the first issue is having those hides split so thin and then trying to cut them straight. Im assuming you have taurillon Laguna right? Its a very stretchy leather. 1.2 is really thin for this kind of grained leather. If you want belt straps then you need to have something that is going to stop the stretch, you will need an inner layer of something stiff like bonded leather. What you will need to do is cut that bonded leather to size(or a little wider) then glue a strip of the the Carriat leather on top and then cut to size.

you need to get some strong magnets and test what works for you. You need to test how thick/thin the leather covering the magnet needs to be to give the strength hold you want.
