- My result, after a few weeks of studying the coursesIn Welcome! ·16 June 2021It rarely happens that a master leatherworker is able to properly transfer his/her skills to pupils. And that's why there is a lengthy process of working for an artisan to learn by practice and correction, by constant visual inspection and feedback. However, if teaching material is organized and conveyed properly, it speeds up the process considerably. This is what Peter has achieved here. All one needs to do is to catalogue a large number of techniques, tips and tricks from his courses. Here is my result, going from not knowing what's going on to somewhat enjoying my work. I am nowhere near perfect, but I have surely departed the YouTubers level. Thank you Peter.514492

- what are you preferred pricking Irons? In Welcome!22 February 2021Hi TC, My preferred pricking irons are the PETER NITZ pricking irons coming out in a few months :-) You absolutely don't need a round single tooth punch. A round awl works exactly the same. P65
- How long does an average bag take to make? How do you divide your time in that build? In Beginner's Corner3 November 2021Hi Sam, Good question. As an example, a dream bag takes me about 6 full working days to complete. On something like a bag there is a general order in which to make it but not 100% fixed. I'll usually start the handles first because I know there is a lot of edge finishing work so I can use the dying time of the edges to work on other parts. So by the time the handles are completely done I will be a a stage with the rest of the bag where they are ready to be attached to the main panels. Basically you dont want to wait to start making the handles only when you need them. then you might be stuck not able to work further until they are done. You know basically which parts are assembled in which order, so make sure you are thinking ahead and juggle working on the different parts - as some are drying you can stitch, then add some more edge paint and then go back to stitching. Then once the exterior is done I'll make the entire interior and then then assemble it and make the strap last. For something like a wallet I will cut and skins all parts first and then just assemble it all. this way you dont have to keep changing and going back to the skiver and readjusting the feet. p71

- How do you price your leather goods for sale?In Help! How do I...·11 October 2021Hi everyone. I'm wondering, if you sell your work, how do you price it? There are so few hand-stitched bag makers I can find online to compare my prices against. On the one hand, I know I don't have the brand caché to benchmark against a heritage company like Hermes. But on the other, my work is 100% saddle stitched and uses top-level luxury materials, so I don't want to benchmark against a lesser-quality brand. And, of course, I want my pricing to be in line with you, my fellow bag-makers, so I'm not accidentally undervaluing everyone's work. Thoughts?53936
