Thank you for your answer @Talitha Joy , maybe my question wasn't clear enough.. I'm not asking about paring to reduce thickness and go as an exemple from 2.8mm to 1.3mm. Let's say we have a piece that is 1.3mm in some parts and 1.2mm in other parts, paring the piece so it is 1.2mm all the way through, what does that bring in terms of feel? Do some of you always split the leather for thickness consistency throughout a piece?

Is an electric creaser a must have for beginners? I am hesitant as some others have mentioned to spend the money on such an expensive tool starting out. I see that Blanchard has a hand edge creaser that is not electric. I believe Vergez Blanchard makes tools for Artisan. An artisan is considered to sharpen it tools. So i guess Vergez Blanchard thinks you know how to. But their are many new manufactory that target the private market - but very professional - like KS Blade and they sharpen the tools before sending for a very nice experience. But Vergez Blanchard has very good tools if you know how to take care of them. Hopes this explains. Regards Robby

Hi @Liviu Moruzi, I use about one to two of the regular blades for a 30cm sized bag, with skives on outers, linings and also on the reinforcements. I am generous with the blades because the cost of the leather exceeds the cost of the blades by far. With narrow skives, you can turn the blade 180 degrees and use the other unused side.
