- Basic Tools For Beginning Leathercraft카테고리: Beginner's Corner10 June 2023Unfortunately is not cheap.. The difference between the M3000 and the M6000, is that with the 3000 you have one handle only VS the 2 in the 6000. But you must buy the handle(s) and the tips... Personally I opted for a cheaper brand as beginner.0
- Padded Dog Collar카테고리: Help! How do I...·10 November 2020Hello community, - What would you recommend as leather to line a padded dog collar? I was thinking of going with nappa calfskin, but maybe you would recommend another leather? - What total thickness is recommended ? My first idea is 3.5-4mm bridle leather + 3mm Foam + 1mm nappa to cover the foam. I don't know if that seems too much or too little. Thank you so much four your help, Kind regards, David06233
- Luxury house - Spitting leather for harmonization카테고리: Help! How do I...·8 May 2021Hi all! I remember a documentary about a luxury house (Dior maybe), the worker explained that every pieces of leather went through a splitting machine to harmonize thickness throughout the surface. I’m a filmmaker, and the analogy i see would be « denoising », which is a post production process that smooth out an image by removing the grain, a process that kills the character of an image and its organic aspect in my opinion, i stay far away from it for personal taste.. What do you think about splitting leather for harmonization? What feel do you get? I insist on this aspect, the feel being greatly important to me.. What do you gain and what do you lose? Greetings from Paris!06318
- In one of your videos, you mention using shrunken calf leather (i.e., Togo) and I was wondering if you could tell me the tannery you buy...카테고리: Beginner's Corner9 December 2020Hi Jose, You can get bull calf from tannerie Carriat. They sell single skins and the prices are quite good. Hermes uses their skins for lots of bags. Weinheimer and Perlinger are good for Togo leathers but I think you need some minimums. If you message Carriat they can tell you the colors in stock to choose from. All these skins come in at around 2.2/2.4mm thick but if you have a skiving machine you can split down the cut panels for your bag yourself without any problem. thats what i do.35

I have just reviewed my basic list and have racked up over $650, without the edging machine & accessories, as well as add'l needed basics. Because I have been working with leather on a basic level, I have loads of materials I'm hoping to utilize. Nonetheless, what brand edger do you recommend? Thank you once more, for your support!0
- Gluing - Never seen this method elsewhere카테고리: Help! How do I...3 August 2025One needs to make sure there is no air in between the leather and the bonded. Also to make sure there’s good adhesion between the two and no wrinkles. As for the paper this prevents the leather from sticking to the bonded leather prematurely.25
