Yes, thats correct. Standard is opening left to right with zippers. For a retourne bag you dont see the stitching so its no big deal if you dont want to use only one length of thread to sew the entire panel, but its always good practice :-)

Hi Chaesu, Glad you are loving leather crafts! :-) You can either punch holes on both panels and match them up. You can avoid uneven edges by scoring a line with you compass to make sure the stitching line is exactly the same on both panels. The other method is harder at first, but once you master stitching with the awl it makes your life much easier as you don't need to count and match up holes. P

edge bevels are for veg tanned skins in general and using the electric edge crease is for chrome tanned skins.

I never work with edge bevelers because I’m using mainly chrome tanned and when I use veg tan I also use the filetuese. So unfortunately I can’t help you with that question

Which grid sandpaper do you use? I had this happen too when the grid I used was too high. It takes a lot more layers and sanding if it’s not rough enough for the first few layers

Hi Hazel ideally the best solution is to have your holes punched on the outside and then stitch using the awl to make each hole as you stitch around the curve. I know its hard at first but with some practice you will get it.
