Guess the best alternative is the hand skiver! But even hand skiving can't replace the bell knife skiving machine. Some things would be extremely difficult or time consuming to do it all with the hand skiver.

Hi Danielle, You can put hard foam sheet insulation on the underside of your workbench. This helps a little. Skiving the edges of the leather pieces along with KS blade irons does make for less hammering.

Make sure you get the tape that is 0.18mm thick. I originally ordered the 0.08mm-thick tape and need to double it.
