- SkiverIn Beginner's Corner6 October 2020I use an atom which they don’t produce anymore. I recommend camoga or fortuna if you want to make an investment. These are great machines and well worth the money. Cheap machines can just be a headache and frustrating because your can’t get the results like with the good machines. You can also find used or vintage machines that can be refurbished. These old machines can be really great! You also have to decide if you want suction or just the off-cuts fall onto the floor or a tray. I have suction and I think it’s a nice luxury to have if you are working a lot on the skiver.30

- Basic Tools For Beginning LeathercraftIn Beginner's Corner25 October 2021Hi Hilde, The angled one is what you want for most common hand skiving jobs. There is a left-handed and a right handed angled one available. I think the length of the blade has to do with whether your feel comfortable with a bigger or smaller one in your hand. So if you have small hands I would go with the smaller/shorter blade.3

- Basic Tools For Beginning LeathercraftIn Beginner's Corner10 June 2023Unfortunately is not cheap.. The difference between the M3000 and the M6000, is that with the 3000 you have one handle only VS the 2 in the 6000. But you must buy the handle(s) and the tips... Personally I opted for a cheaper brand as beginner.0
- Luxury house - Spitting leather for harmonizationIn Help! How do I...·8 May 2021Hi all! I remember a documentary about a luxury house (Dior maybe), the worker explained that every pieces of leather went through a splitting machine to harmonize thickness throughout the surface. I’m a filmmaker, and the analogy i see would be « denoising », which is a post production process that smooth out an image by removing the grain, a process that kills the character of an image and its organic aspect in my opinion, i stay far away from it for personal taste.. What do you think about splitting leather for harmonization? What feel do you get? I insist on this aspect, the feel being greatly important to me.. What do you gain and what do you lose? Greetings from Paris!06314
- Padded Dog CollarIn Help! How do I...·10 November 2020Hello community, - What would you recommend as leather to line a padded dog collar? I was thinking of going with nappa calfskin, but maybe you would recommend another leather? - What total thickness is recommended ? My first idea is 3.5-4mm bridle leather + 3mm Foam + 1mm nappa to cover the foam. I don't know if that seems too much or too little. Thank you so much four your help, Kind regards, David06233
