- Practical questions regarding selling exotics internationallyIn Help! How do I...·12 July 2021Hello Peter and everyone else, I have some practical business questions when it comes to selling exotics. How does it work to sell exotic items internationally? For example what are the custom duties and are there any extra fees? How do returns work? What happens if you make 3 items out of one skin with one Cites certificate? Do you just add copies of the certificate? And what is the most practical payment method for sales like this? I hope everyone here can give me some more insight on these topics. Kind regards, Talitha Joy02147

- Need some advice for stitching thick panelsIn Help! How do I...·17 March 2021Hi Everyone, Well I'm kind of a new to the leather craft, and I think I'm really into it. I love Peter's products and the way he creates them. I'm learning so much more then I expected from this website. I really appreciate it. Anyhow my question is, I'm still on the fence at best what is the best way of stitching thick panels. The way I've learned is punch each leather(front panel and side panel) with a pricking iron, and precisely glue them to align the each punch hole, and then do hand stitch. Well, I think it gives nice and beautiful stitch for both panels, but the thing is, for me, it's quite hard to glue the panels evenly. When I do stitch after glue both panels, the punching hole is not perfectly matched between the front panel and the side panel, so when I finish the stitch, I found out the stitched panel is not straight at all since I sometimes twisted the panels to find the punch hole on the opposite side. So I'm thinking of trying the way that Peter taught me through his tutorial, using diamond awl. But I'm still worried because I don't know if I can make a very straight and linear stitch line by using the awl. I need your advice and want to know how you guys are doing it.02140

- Box stitch marking around a curveIn Help! How do I...·18 April 2021Hi, I'm trying to use box stitch to create a 3D shape around a curve. Does anyone have a recommended way to to mark stitching holes on both pieces of leather? If I mark them with the same spacing, the holes on the outer piece can not catch up with the holes on the inner piece because of the thickness. I'm also worried that if I only mark the holes on the outside and stitch with an awl, the holes that come out on the inside will be too close together. Please let me know if you have a good way to solve this! Thanks!02118
- Music - Food for the SoulIn Welcome! ·28 November 2021How do, all? I wasn't certain where to put this topic, hence here it is at the start. Being a lover of all genres of music, I've always had it as a companion on my leathercrafting journey. Mostly jazz, to be honest, but the dulcet tones of Annie Lennox and Amy Lee are no strangers to my workshop as are everything from Chopin & Enigma to Metallica. I've never considered a tutorial a suitable place for an accompanying soundtrack but boy have I been mistaken here. The sort of Zen-esque tracks on Peter's tutorials I feel add an extraordinary dimension, are mildly hypnotic and serve to enrapture the learning experience and elevate it. Not bad for something that is essentially pure mathematics. Do you include music in your leathercrafting? How does it serve you? And can someone PLEASE tell me what the track from the Zipper Window tutorial is??!!02150

- Pricking Iron techniquesIn Beginner's Corner15 December 2020Hey @m h, I use Sinabroks 3mm and the new ProAtilier 3.38mm. I punch through without the use of an awl. Most of the modern irons allow for this technique because each tooth has a fairly long taper.11
- Pricking Iron techniquesIn Beginner's Corner16 December 2020Hi @Jose Cantt, they are beyond what I expected for the price. The ergonomics of the handle are far more comfortable and stable than Sinabroks. Because of the curved shape, your fingers naturally grasp the iron, and I find it makes placing the iron on a line far more accurate than the Sinabroks. You can't go wrong with Sinabroks, but I would say for the price, the Pro irons are a better buy. All that said, we’ll see how long the teeth hold up. If they become dull, then that would be the trade-off against other more expensive irons that stay sharp; this is my expectation.41
