I usually put some books under my board. Paper helps with the noice. Also I've seen around hammers filled with sand which are supposed to make less noise (Crimson Hides sell one, but you can find them on Amazon too). A friend that uses one tells me that it helps a little.21
- SharpeningIn Beginner's Corner4 October 2020Hi Connie! Pretty much all we use for sharpening at the atelier is a good leather strop and some polishing compound on it. Its mainly just awls and hand skivers we polish when needed. For a cutting knife I use disposable beads so if its getting dull i just snap it off to get the next sharp edge. p21
- Working with soft temper leatherIn Beginner's Corner8 November 2020Hi Ewa, Well if the leather is really soft and stretchy you may encounter problems with stitching and edge finishing because it will be hard to get an even tension when stitching and it will stretch when creasing and edge polishing. Each case is a little different but in general if I have this situation i will back the leather with a really thin liner like micron which will not change the hand or feel of the leather but will keep it from stretching. p21

I'm mainly using size M40 thead (together with a 3.0 punch). For wallets i use a size M30 thread with a 2.7 punch and for larger bags and luggage use M50 thread with 3.38 punch hope this helps! p31
