Hello everyone, I am using the TAM contact glue , it is similar to neoprene , in my experience when you apply the glue ( not doing on purpose) somewhere it doesn’t need to be , at the same time you don’t see anything , but one year later it will turn yellowish/brown.... I just put some glue on the fabric of my zipper , I went over the limit I needed to put the glue on . it is invisible at the moment but I want to avoid that it turns yellowish/brown in the future ! What can I do ? Thank you in advance for the tips!

Hello everyone from Canada! I'm currently designing a new briefcase for myself and bumped into a slight problem. After watching the Hackney Briefcase Tutorial I had some questions with regards to the reinforcement methods. Traditionally I have done the same method of Peter. The steel bar is attached to the exterior leather by a rivet which gets sandwiched between a contra piece of leather before another piece is glued to the underside of the steel. I've always done it so the reinforcement flap closest to the handle is larger and the lower flap is smaller. Has anyone else done the same thing and noticed a difference or is it sort of style thing? I like how his method gives a gentle slope to the briefcase but was wondering if it had a specific reason. Bonus question is how come the flap isn't reinforced with a lengthwise strip of say box calf at the front? I've seen it done on handbags and have liked the results myself. Just wondering if it was because the leather was strong enough or it was a personal choice. Hope you understand my long winded question!

Good afternoon! I greatly enjoyed the Gusset tutorial; thank you. My question is regarding the patterns accompanying the video. Are these for practice only? It would seem such, as the size is rather small. In this case, how shall I use the pattern to create a full-size handbag? How can I enlarge this pattern and keep the scale correct? Hello everyone, Have you ever dealt with hidden neodymium magnets that: 1 - Broke inside a purse? 2 - Lost their strength over time? 3 - Damaged electronics, smartphones, or credit cards? High-end luxury brands like « H » seem to avoid using them, and Peter only used them once in a Metro pochette. Is there a reason for that? I'm considering using them in my upcoming design, but their brittleness is a concern. I've come across magnets coated in rubber or epoxy, and some encased in steel, but these options add unwanted bulk. If your were aiming at lifetime longevity for a high-end item, what solution would you go with? Thank you in advance !

Hi Everyone all the best and lot's of leathercraft for the new 2024! I was wondering if anyone has worked with Giardini edge paint and Uniters as well and can compare them? I have worked with Giardini a lot. I love their colors and it is easy to mix your own colors. But their products turn bad very quickly. Also I have a feeling that working with giardini and filetuese is not such a good combination. After 6 months Giardini colors turn unusable, they are water-based. Uniters colors are water-based as well I read. So I was wondering if they also only hold 6 months? I have also used colors from Fiebings. They hold forever and also work nicely with the fileteuse. But their color range is poor, I also don't know here about mixing colors. So I am wondering if is it worth changing from Giardini to Uniters? Any advice here? Also where best to buy them for Germany? Thank you for your advice in advance!
